Hurricane Ike

Around the corner from my mom's house - this was a VERY common site all around town!

The local IGA grilling their meat on Monday before it went bad!

The Home City Ice Truck making a delivery Monday afternoon! You could only pay in cash in the store and then had to wait in line for the man to throw you a bag of ice off the truck!

The generator we got on Monday afternoon from a friend! We spent the next several days rotating ours and our neighbors' fridges. It came just in time and we were able to save most of the food!

By the third day of the outage LARGE generators like this one began rolling into town. This generator went to one of the local gas stations! Once they were back up and running things relaxed quite a bit since we were able to get fuel once again!

The local Kroger store which sat empty nearly all week and lost everything! As did the Super Walmart, which received power a few days into the mess, but still lost EVERYTHING in a fridge or freezer!

A common site around town! If the poles didn't fall, most of them were leaning in the direction that the wind blew!

The debris pile at the local park! They have a lot of chipping to do!!!

Family Service Project ::: NVCL

This past Saturday's Family Project @ Northview!

Knight Crossing

I spent last week at Knight Crossing - our camp for 4th and 5th graders! We spent 4 days and 3 nights at a Girl Scout Camp in Lafayette, Indiana. Everyone had a great time!

Global Expedition

Here's a few pictures from our 4yr-3rd Grade Camp earlier this summer! We went on a journey around the world with two travelers and their bi-plane! It was a great week!

Race Weekend

Here's a few photos from my off weekend last week! My family and I attended the Brickyard 400 here in Indianapolis ... it was a bit of an unusual race and unfortunately we never saw the cars go more than 10 laps under a green flag! From turn 4 we could almost see the pits...where the cars went during EVERY mandatory caution. It was fun though, despite the major tire issues that struck NASCAR last weekend!

Family Visit

I spent last weekend with my family. They were in town for the Brickyard 400, but before heading to the track we spent some time walking through Conner Prairie. Here's a few fun photos from our time there on Friday afternoon!

Mom with a 10 day old calf.

This duck got a little creative and decided to use the tub of water as his own, personal lake. The other ducks weren't too happy and the idea resulted in a fight! Here are the ducks attempting to pull the very creative duck out of the tub of water!

My brother "chasing" the wild pigs.

Cool shots from the Prairie
